The magically floating rock known as the Heart of Ubtao was as dangerous or as accommodating as our heroes wanted it to be, based on the actions and choices they could make. Getting up there proved highly dramatic as they were beset upon by the deadly construct that had been sent to kill them.

If you’ve read or watched my review of last year’s Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, you know that one of my complaints was there was no actual bloody heist in the campaign! DMs Guild veteran Christian Eichhorn has designed a series of heists that take place around Waterdeep to help fill this void.

The first in the Waterdeep Shadow Heist series is “The Great Wyrm Theft,” set at a noble’s mansion during a big dinner party. The PCs’ goal is to sneak in, grab a valuable gem and sneak out, before the gem is sold at the end of the evening. It’s a neat setup, though the mansion itself is disappointingly mundane.

Risk of Rain 2 Shows Incredible Promise in Early Access [Pixelkin]

I lived through the initial 3D gaming era of the mid to late 90s. Whether for better or worse, most games made the awkward, ugly transition from pixels to polygons. And for every Mario 64 there was, well, a Sonic 3D.

Thankfully we’re far removed from those days. But rarely do we see a series so completely, and effectively transform from 2D to 3D, as I’ve seen in Risk of Rain 2. The sequel was announced and released via Steam Early Access during the Gearbox panel at PAX East, and it’s already fantastic.
