From guest GM Chris comes our playthrough of the Alien RPG adventure, “Destroyer of Worlds.”

Starring:
Captain Silva
Private Dante
Sergeant Mason
Officer Chaplain

Death Counter: 0

On the snowy planet Ariacus, a group of hardened marines meet with their commanding officer, Hatfield.

The colony is in the midst of a mass evacuation, due to the imminent arrival of the Union of Progressive Peoples — a military invasion. However, four marines have recently gone AWOL, and their status and knowledge prove so important that the entire evacuation has been put on hold until they’re found, and dealt with.

That’s where we come in.

Hatfield doesn’t have much information on these four other than pictures, and a few words. Last known whereabouts were the only bar in town: ominously named the Eye of Oblivion.

Captain Silva loads her crew into the APC. The Captain is cool, calm, and surprisingly empathetic. Dante is a stone-cold badass. Mason is helpful, while Chaplain is openly an android, and doesn’t carry weapons.

The team which also includes the trigger-happy Private Hammer, cranky Private Zmijewski, and the driver, Sergeant Iona.

We arrive at the bar, and Silva pulls up the schematics. She instructs someone to head into the alley and around the back, and Chaplain volunteers. She heads into the bar with Dante and Mason, leaving Dante near the entrance.

Despite, or perhaps because of, the impending doom of the colony, the bar is crowded and popular, even in the late morning.

Silver strides up to the bartender and asks about the missing marines. But the bartender proves obstinate in the face of armed soldiers, leaving Silva annoyed and stressed.

As the crowd gets agitated, Chaplain heads in the back door, nearly running into a pair of patrons trying to escape. They both have their hands in their pants — weapons?

Chaplain asks if they’ve seen the marines, and they admit they have, including one that was incredibly drunk and angry. But they don’t know much more. Silva and Mason arrive and don’t get anything further out, but thankfully don’t provoke a confrontation either.

Dante shuts down the bar and prevents anyone from leaving while the others head deeper inside. The patrons grow increasingly angry and upset.

The proprietor, Fei2, suddenly appears. An android, she is calm and helpful in the face of the armed soldiers, inviting them to her office. There, Silva can rewind and study the security tapes.

The tapes show the four marines in plainclothes arriving at the bar. They meet with a greasy man, and all four are very upset. The two women storm out, while the two men proceed to get very drunk.

One of them becomes sick and is carried off, while the other gets in a fight with another patron, and is dragged out by the bar’s security.

When asked, Fei2 replies that any disorderlies are turned over to local law enforcement. Looks like that’s our next stop!

The situation in the bar has grown quite tense, and Silva finally orders Dante to let people go.

Outside, Hammer complains that a crowd of people are throwing rocks and screaming at the APC. People are scared, and want to be taken off-planet before it’s too late.

Silva diffuses the situation as best she can, then loads up her marines and heads out, though not before spotting one of the missing marines among the crowd. Then, she’s gone.

As the APC heads toward the police building, it stops suddenly. Outside is a corporate woman from Weyland-Yutani, Jennifer Wilson, along with several armed guards.

She explains that her company has a vested interest in recovering the missing marines.

Chaplain privately warns Silva that the company is very powerful, and very dangerous.

But Silva offers to work with Wilson, even trading some of her soldiers for some of hers, and cover ground together!

Silva sends Mason and Chaplain with Wilson, and instructs them to check out the hospital, in case the sickly one is there.

Wilson sends some of her soldiers with Silva, and Silva’s team continues on to the police station.

At the station, Silva and Dante find a stressed out receptionist, and a nearly empty building. The cranky sheriff recognizes the man from the picture, though didn’t know his name or that he was a marine when they brought him in. Apparently he’s been passed out in a cell this whole time.

Silva stations Dante outside the cell block, while she heads inside to check on the sleeping man.

Good news, it is indeed Corporal Reese, one of the AWOL soldiers!

Bad news, he’s very dead. His face is gone, and is chest has been blown out from the inside.

Drops of vicious liquid drip down from an obsidian sac attached to the nearby ceiling. The sack rips open as a hideous, main-size alien creature drops to the ground, right between Dante and Silva!
