From guest GM Chris comes our playthrough of the Alien RPG adventure, “Destroyer of Worlds.”
Starring:
Captain Silva
Private Dante
Sergeant Iona
Officer Chaplain
Death Counter: 1
With Wilson in tow, the marines begin the arduous march across the colony toward Fort Nebraska.
The colony has become an active warzone as U.P.P. forces invade from above. Not to mention a terrible blizzard that accompanies them.
What could go wrong?
With Wilson’s help, the marines avoid any U.P.P. patrols, but they soon witness a harrowing sight. A trio of U.P.P. soldiers have half a dozen civilians lined up against a wall, ready to be executed.
Wilson whispers that this isn’t their fight and they need to keep moving, and Iona agrees. But Captain Silva refuses to let people die at the hands of the enemy. She orders Wright and Iona to get on a nearby roof for a better vantage point, while Dante strides up behind them, weapon drawn.
Wright shows off her sniping skills as she pops the head off one of the soldiers, while Dante unleashes a hail of bullets on another.
The soldiers turn in surprise, running for cover, and one of them fires into Silva, nearly downing the Captain.
But the marines have the numbers, and the drop, and soon put the enemy soldiers down.
Among the grateful civilians is Fei2, the friendly android from the bar. She’s thankful for our arrival, explaining that she was trying to get the last of her patrons to safety.
Safety is pretty damn far, however. Only Fort Nebraska seems to hold any kind of defense against the invasion.
Silva agrees to let the survivors accompany us. But they cannot slow us down.
After several more hours of cold, harsh travel, Wilson spots several insurgents on nearby roofs. They’re armed with RPGs, and aiming at a tank heading north.
Chaplain quickly gets on the comms and radios the tank, and Silva pulls rank. She informs the tank operators they’re about to roll into an ambush.
The tank believes us, and fires on the nearest building. The marines also begin opening fire as a full battle breaks out in the frozen streets.
With their low vantage point the marines struggle to connect any shots, and their grenades go wide. The tank deals solid damage with its shells, but sustains a lot of heavy fire from the RPGs.
Things get even hairier when a U.P.P. General shows up, Davydovich, with half a dozen soldiers. Davydovich orders the marines to stand down, and turn over Wright. Seems they’re fully aware of the Draconis-26, and its monstrous transformation.
The marines calmly surrender — just kidding. They’ll never take us alive!
Dante responds by firing her RPG directly into the crowd, blowing up a soldier and dispersing the rest.
They all fire on her. She’s nearly ripped apart if not for Chaplain desperately jumping in to absorb a killing blow. The already damaged android is ripped in half in the process. But still technically functional!
Iona is not so lucky, however, going down under a hail of bullets, though the Critical Injury isn’t fatal.
But remember that tank? Davydovich clearly did not, as our heavy armor turns and fires on the enemy soldiers.
It’s a tense firefight, with both sides losing soldiers, when the sky suddenly lights up. A massive EMP sends a shockwave throughout the colony, and lighting arcs through Chaplain, frying the android.
Death Counter: 1 -> 2
Before his dramatic death, Chaplain receives a message from his other presence, identifying the attack as the “Lunar Raze,” Col. Meyers’ last ditch effort to “save” the Draconis-26 from the enemy — by releasing it around the colony!
Wilson screams for everyone to get inside as oil pipes burst from underground, releasing the deadly contagion among soldiers and civilians.
Dante drops the shell of Chaplain while Silva grabs Iona, and the marines duck inside the half-destroyed building. Once again they witness their world turn to absolute shit.
