From guest GM Chris comes our playthrough of the Alien RPG adventure, “Chariot of the Gods!”

Starring:
Kayla Rye, Technician
Leah Davis, Pilot
Jennifer Wilson, Company Agent

The surviving members of the USCSS Montero had split up: Davis (and Cronus officer Johns) had reactivated the ship’s still-functioning android, Ava. Wilson and fellow corporate liaison Clayton brought an increasingly erratic Reid to the medlab. Cham went to work on the air scrubbers, while Rye delved furthest into the bowels of the ship to reach the reactor.

Rye pulls the short straw. Upon entering the reactor chamber, she spots a crumpled space suit on the floor, surrounded by a nest. She gingerly kicks the suit, and the monstrous, hulk-like zombie rises up and screams!

Rye screams in terror, firing her bolt gun, which glances off the creature like it was a paper clip. She scrambles backwards, calls out to Cham and the others, and runs back toward the catwalks over the storage room.

But despite being at least 70 years old, the abomination is just as fast. It grabs Rye and hurls her into a nearby ladder. She crumples to the ground, and it slams its meaty fists into her body, cracking her leg.

Rye nearly passes out from the pain, which maybe saves her life, as the creature looks for other victims.

Within a breath, Cham is hurtling toward the catwalks shouldering an incinerator.

The creature is on him instantly. He gives off a cry as it slams into him, wrenching his arm, but he douses it in fire, setting it ablaze.

But the real hero is Davis. Having restored the synthetic, Davis, Johns and Ava rush down to the lower level, and Ava, sensing crew in danger, immediately attacks the abomination.

The two beings grapple each other with inhuman strength, while Cham backs off.

Davis rushes across the catwalk and reaches Rye, finding her miraculously still alive (two successful death saves!).

Davis provides some life-saving medical aid on Rye.

Then all the doors on their level shut off.

Turns out Wilson has been busy.

In the medlab, she and Clayton had been attacked by Reid, the Cronus marine who began exhibiting erratic, violent behavior, the early stages of transforming into an abomination.

Thankfully Wilson has a shotgun, and is a damn good shot, splattering Reid’s body all over the ground.

With their threat neutralized, Wilson and Clayton make their way to MU/TH/UR. They have their own agenda, one in which the crew are extremely expendable, yet still necessary to complete some tasks.

Fearing the abomination’s escape, Wilson uses MU/TH/UR to shut all the doors on that level.

The closed doors provide a temporary reprieve for the survivors, most of whom are on the catwalk, while Ava and the abomination duke it out in a hallway.

But the respite is short-lived. The now heavily-injured abomination wrenches the door open. Behind it, the crew sees the crumpled, destroyed remains of the android.

Officer Johns is trying to open the other hallway door when the abomination stumbles into him, grabs his arm, and rips it clean off. The poor man screams while Davis aims her pistol and fires.

The bullet hits the creature right in the head. It tips over, still clutching the severed arm, and falls off the catwalk into the dark storage room below, splattering on the ground.

Damn!

Despite the terror, everyone survived the onslaught. Cham reappears with an injured arm. Rye has the injured leg, and Johns, well, “injured arm” is an understatement.

Rye patches Johns up as best she can, then moves to recover what remains of Ava.

Shockingly the android is still operational, though its body is completely destroyed.

Rye moves to take the head. Surely it has some helpful information?

But Davis grabs the incinerator and melts what remains of Ava, claiming it’s of no use to anyone.

The sudden coup-de-grace shocks Rye and the others. But Davis had just saved them, and Captain Miller had said to trust her, so Rye begrudgingly nods.

Cham mentions that he was able to clean the air scrubbers before the attack. That still leaves two more tasks to get the ship working.

Rye is adamant about never being alone again. Armed with the incinerator, her and Cham return to the reactor room to get to work.

Davis still possesses the superior EVA suit she found earlier, so it’s up to her to get outside the ship and fix the comms.

Johns won’t be of any use, so he returns to where Wilson and Clayton are.

There’s a tense conversation between Davis and Wilson about the doors. Davis is suspicious, but Wilson does an excellent job deflecting any blame, painting herself as much a victim as the rest of them (successful manipulation check!).

Davis isn’t without blame either. Wilson calls her out on the dead Cronus crew member in the medlab, Flynn. Davis was the last one with him, but she claims ignorance.

A showdown is building between these two.

Clayton warns Wilson that they absolutely must recover the samples that Davis swiped earlier in the medlab (and most likely killed Flynn for!). From there, the samples need to be put in a closet in Clayton’s room, where they will be secured. The company will offer a great reward if they can pull it off. And survive.

Outside the ship, Davis spots the comms and gets to work. Both repair teams are uber-successful at fixing the broken parts of the ships as quickly as possible.

This time it’s Davis that runs into trouble, however. She spots a shape, some sort of creature, outside the ship, heading toward her.

And she’s all alone.
