With the ships side-by-side, the battle with Pirate Lord Desecratus Profanis begins in earnest.
Yet again, Savra’s deadly AoE spells defines the fight — unleashing sickening radiance upon most of the ship’s crew.
Like the other Pirate Lords, the naga captain has full reports on the Zoo Crew, and calls out to target “the lizard wizard,” while trying (and failing) to dispel the magic herself (the DM totally forgot about using a higher level spell slot for dispel magic, oops).
With the radiant damage doing its thing, most of the party remains on their ship and employ range attacks. Mac, however, is still on the enemy ship.
Having killed one of the broodguards, another makes their way downstairs to investigate the commotion — and avoid the radiation above deck!
Mac, still technically disguised, manages to fool this one. And in a hilarious one-two maneuver, he grabs both of them and yeets them off the ship, into the eager jaws of Sharkey.
Then he jumps off the ship and back into Sharkey. The giant shark dashes and pops up, flinging Mac back onto his ship with a series of fantastic Athletics checks and Dex saves.

With Mac back and Torrel returned, the party unleashes powerful range attacks on anyone surviving the ongoing radiance.
The dice are also on their side when it comes to saving throws. The spirit naga attempts to cast dominate person on Gotwald, then on Savra. Both of them make the save!
Gotwald proves his deformity curse has little effect as he hurls a grappling hook and moves their ship closer.
Mac is slightly annoyed, as his anchor shenanigans were designed to slow the enemy ship down — but it turns out the party is able to handle things in a straight-up fight. Plus, the anchor did cripple the enemy ship, preventing it from maneuvering once things got close.
Savra finally drops the radiance after most of the crew is dead or moved, prompting Gotwald to leap onto the enemy ship, alongside Borgas and Harley, while Mac, Torrel, and Savra continue to down yuan-ti pirates from afar.
Oh, and at one point, Gotwald hurls the javelin of lightning across the ship!
The two more power yuan-ti, the naga captain and her first mate nightmare speaker, prove a bit more challenging. Desecratus finally succeeds on a spell, casting blight on Savra and downing the injured wizard with 29 necrotic damage, forcing Harley to jump back and revive her with a potion.
The nightmare speaker invokes a nightmare on Gotwald, stymying the cursed minotaur. But the rest of the party focus fire the naga, and the captain goes down under a flurry of spells and arrows.
Mac realizes that as a naga, she will regenerate on the ship after a few days. While the party debates on whether it’s worth taking a haunted ship (which is still full of yuan-ti below deck), an otherworldly scream bubbles up from the depths below, and large tentacles wrap around the ship.
The juvenile kraken from the Styes has found them!
It’s none too happy about the torture and enslavement it endured by the mind flayer, seek vengeance against the entire Black Armada.
Although it doesn’t seem to have any problem with collateral damage, either. The injured and exhausted party is forced to flee once again from the tentacle terror.
Gotwald and Borgas, the only two left on the enemy ship, spot a treasure chest in the naga’s hut. Borgas heroically races back to nab some nice loot while the ship breaks apart, while Cheese and Gotwald help his escape.
The party gets back to the ship and quickly steers away as they hear the screams and cries of the yuan-ti behind them.
Another Pirate Lord has been defeated. With the skies clear, the party finally long rest, and level up, before making their way to Sea King Tentrix’s lair in the Nelanther Isles.
