Keys from the Golden Vault Session 11
Starring
Varrow, level 4 gnome Thief Rogue
Stayzie Diamondz, level 4 orc Champion Fighter
Elowen Fernwhisper, level 4 wood elf Circle of the Moon Druid
Chéri Powder, level 4 human Illusionist Wizard
Taveen, level 4 aasimar Warrior of Mercy Monk
Stayzie and Taveen play through the first round Day 2 of the Grand Minauros Invitational, and both PCs make it past the semi-finals. They’re congratulated for making it to the finals, which will take place in about an hour, with the final four players on a single table.
Elowen, still in croc form, shifts back to elf and dramatically crawls out of the river, acting drunk. Her performance calls the attention of a nearby guard, who escorts her to a chair and berates her about casino rules.

Meanwhile, Chéri’s plan has caused the cashier to bring Quentin out of his office, along with an annoyed Arlo. Arlo leaves in a huff, while Quentin moves to the southeast area. He’s suspicious about the cashier and suspects a magical enchantment, looking for the obviously dressed wizard.
But Chéri is a step ahead, quickly casting disguise self to appear as a beautiful woman instead. Quentin is unable to find him, and when Taveen comes to find Chéri as well, the disguised wizard casts suggestion again — this time aimed at Quentin!
The casino owner fails, and Chéri enchants him to be attracted to Taveen, and want to show him everything.

With Quentin suitably distracted, Varrow uses his stolen pass card to duck inside the southern hallway of the employee-only backrooms, grabbing Elowen to come with.
Unfortunately they run into a security mirror. Varrow quickly casts minor illusion to block a part of it, then sneaks up the hallway, but a guard comes to investigate.
Varrow quickly hurls a net, and throws some manacles on him, and the pair drag him into a nearby room, which happens to be Quentin’s recently vacated office!
Inside the cushy office, they find a secret lever on a fiendish painting, revealing a hidden, secondary office with a large statue of a devil. Not just any devil — Mammon, one of the archdukes of the Nine Hells, and known for his greed and avarice.
The floor around the statue is stained with blood. A nearby ledger magically keeps track of the money in the vault and transactions in real time, as well as a few names, including Verity’s brother.
They take the book, but avoid touching the statue.
Suddenly the door to the office tries to open. It’s Quentin, eagerly wanting to take Taveen on a tour and show him his office.
Thankfully, Varrow barricaded the door earlier, and using their magical ear pieces, were able to update the rest of the party on their location.
Thinking quickly, Taveen, asks Quentin for drinks at the bar back in the lounge area, and the smitten Quentin obliges.
Chéri tries to get Verity involved, but she doesn’t see through his new disguise, and doesn’t take the hints. He and Stayzie wait near the bar area, seeing Quentin enter with Taveen, while Varrow and Elowen remain in the office.
Taveen gets Quentin talking, and he leans in close and opens his earpiece channel, filling the rest of the party with critical information: the vault is located beyond the security room (which is staffed by a security team), the hallway is trapped and watched by a mirror, no one should be entering or leaving the vault, and the vault itself is guarded by a serpentine creature made of bone.
