Elowen Fernwhisper, level 6 wood elf Circle of the Moon Druid
Chéri Powder, level 6 human Illusionist Wizard
Taveen, level 6 aasimar Warrior of Mercy Monk

With weapons drawn and windows bursting open, Arlo calls out from an upstairs window, telling the party it’s not too late to walk away. But the party isn’t leaving without Trench’s painting, and battle’s on!

Chéri comes stumbling out of the stinking cloud he casts in the office, magically disguised as the receptionist (and Zhent agent) in the office, Marvus.

His disguise saves him from attacks, but Stayzie gets pelted from above by Arlo’s pistols, Enna’s longbow, and other Zhentarim wielding crossbows.

As they take out a nearby spy, Taveen crashes through the window on the left building, tussling with Killmore and a tough Zhentarim agent. Stayzie hurls the sleep gas grenade she took from a Clockwork soldier to daze them, while the monk thankfully makes the save.

Meanwhile, Varrow sees the violence unfold from the workshop, cutting his conversation with Jaymont short. He instructs the woodworker and the stablehand to hang low while they deal with it. The gnome rogue climbs out a back window and scales the wall to reach the balcony on the back side of the building.

He tries to restrain the lookout spy with a net, but fails, leaving the spy to attack before retreating and calling for help in the house.

Varrow follows into the upstairs foyer, and fumbles with a lock on a door, leading to a private room rented by a merchant who wants no part of this attack.

Varrow barks at him to barricade the door while he escapes out the second-story window, but the spy crashes through and takes a shot at the fleeing rogue.

While a heavily injured Stayzie uses potions and Second Wind to heal up and break down the front door of the barricaded left-most building, Chéri rushes to another window, but fails to crash though like Taveen did, slamming into it instead.

The mage, Gregir, tries to figure out why the magically disguised mage would slam into the window, but Chéri’s disguise holds up, and he opens the window for him.

But when the real Marvus finally shakes off the cloud and comes stumbling out, Arlo calls out that the other Marvus must be a fake.

Before Gregir can process that, Chéri whips out another suggestion spell, convincing the Zhentarim spellcaster that he’s the real deal, and to take him to the painting, or tell him where it is.

With Taveen back outside, Stayzie crashing and charging upstairs (which is full of Zhentarim), and Varrow prepared to scale across to the left building, Chéri runs back outside with Gregir following.

The Zhentarim mage then drops a bomb — the magical painting isn’t here at all! It’s already been delivered to the boss…
